His high school computer science textbook captured Microsoft’s attention, initiating a decades-long relationship. The tech giant invited Todd to be a founding member of its Microsoft Academic Advisory Council, recognizing his pioneering contributions to education and technology.

Todd was an early trailblazer in web development and internet-based distance education. Under his leadership, Knowlton & Associates—the precursor to Smooth Fusion—partnered with Microsoft to develop and launch a groundbreaking internet distance learning platform, enabling students worldwide to learn computer programming. The company also built multiple education-focused websites and managed academic programs for Microsoft.

As Knowlton & Associates evolved into Smooth Fusion, our commitment to education persisted. Over the years, we’ve collaborated with colleges, universities, school districts, educational publishers, and academic organizations.
